WE TEACH SKIN ANALYSIS

An analysis happens when a skin care therapist looks at a client’s skin under a magnifying lamp to determine skin type, skin conditions, and a plan to care for the skin. In skin care school, you should receive training in identifying conditions like oily, acne-prone skin, dry, dull, aging skin, red or sensitive skin, and fine lines and wrinkles. When performing a skin analysis, a skin care specialist looks for skin type and skin conditions like acne, wrinkles, sun damage, rosacea, and more. In your facial/skin care education, you can learn about which products, regimens, and lifestyle changes can help with skin conditions and improve overall skin quality.

Additionally, as a Dermalogica Partner-School, we teach “Face Mapping.” Face Mapping® is a complimentary service
we offer that combines Eastern and Western philosophies and seeks to reveal your skin type and underlying causes of skin conditions. Through this tool, we can recommend a personalized skin care regimen!

WAXING

An education in skin care and facials should teach you about the anatomy and physiology of the skin as well as hair growth cycles, and the different properties of different skin types. You should also learn techniques for waxing underarms, face, legs, chest, arms and the bikini area. You’ll learn the difference between hard and soft wax, how to minimize waxing pain, sanitation techniques, and the best aftercare methods for waxing.

FACIALS

Learning to perform facials in your skin care education starts with the skin analysis. It then involves cleansing techniques intended remove dirt and toxins from the skin, as well as exfoliation, which removes dead skin cells so that skin can regenerate new cells. This can also release congestion and brighten the skin. During school you can learn about using ingredients like glycolic acid, vitamin C, and enzyme treatments to treat different skin conditions. Following exfoliation you’ll learn about extractions to remove impurities from the pores and eliminate bacteria that causes acne.

MAKEUP APPLICATION

Dermacademy teaches students to help clients look their best through techniques, products, trends and more! We teach how to build a makeup kit, the importance of color theory, how to apply makeup and how to use makeup to correct face shapes and skin tones! You’ll also have the chance to learn about different styles of makeup, like bridal, avant-garde, and editorial makeup!
